هذا هو المجلّد الثاني من المجلدات الخمسة التي جُمع فيها 217 مقالة للفيزيائي الألماني الأستاذ الدكتور آيلهارد فيدمان (1852م-1928م)، بعنوان مقالات في تاريخ العلوم الطبيعية العربية. وقد استخرَج هذه المقالات من المخطوطات العربية المتوفرة في ألمانيا وغيرها، ونشرها في عدة مجلات علمية محكّمة. لم يتح لفيدمان أن يجمعها في حياته، فقامت دار النشر Georg Olms بنشر 79 مقالة في مجلّدين ضخمين سنة 1970م، المجلّد الثاني منهما هو الذي بين أيدينا وفيه خمسون مقالة في موضوعات متنوعة، منها: معرفة الوزن النوعي، والإشارة إلى محاسن التجارة، وفي ميزان الساعات، وفي الحجرة المظلمة، وفي طب الأسنان، وفي السكّر، الخ. وممّا يجدر ذكره مهارة فيدمان اللغوية وأمانته العلمية في النقل والترجمة، ودقة تعابيره، وأنّ ما خلّفه بعد 52 سنة في الترجمة والنقل، تغني الباحث العربي عن البحث في بطون المخطوطات التي تعدّ بالمئات
