إن حاجة الإنسان للتخاطب مع الآخرين حاجة ماسة، ولهذا الخطاب فن وأسلوب أصبح في أيامنا هذه يدرس في المعاهد والجامعات، وذلك لما لهذا العلم من الأهمية البالغة.
ففي أيام الجمع والأعياد وفي المناسبات العامة والخاصة والإحتفالات الدينية والوطنية والندوات والإجتماعات يُحْتاجُ إلى خُطباء بُلغاء ذوو خبرة ومهارة في فن الخطابة، وعلى أهمية هذا الفن إلا أنني لم أجد من كتب في هذا الميدان، بل انصبت جهود الكتاب على تأليف الكتب التي سطروا فيها عشرات الخطب والتي تلقى في مناسبات متعددة، وهذا على أهميته إلا أنه لا يغني عن التأصيل العلمي والموضوعي لهذا الفن، أن الكلام على فن الخطابة يتطرق إلى أركان الخطبة كالخطيب وبلاغته والخطبة ومضمونها وأسلوب الخطابة والجمهور المستهدف وغيرها من العلوم والمعارف المتعلقة بفن الخطابة والإلقاء.
وقد عرف العرب الخطابة قديماً واهتموا بها أيما إهتمام وكان للخطابة فرسانها وأهلها فهذا المعز لدين الله الفاطمي في القاهرة، عندما بلغه أن العباسيين في بغداد يطعنون ويشككون في نسبه إلى فاطمة الزهراء وقف ونثر الدراهم الذهبية على الجند وأصحاب الحل والعقد، وأشار لها قائلاً "هذا نسبي"، ثم أمسك مقبض سيفه واسئل جزءاً منه حتى لمع نصله.
