يوضح أن منابع الشعر هي في الوجدان، وأن العقل في مجال الشعر ليس إلا شمعة تضيء الطريق، ومثل العشر الفنون الأخرى القولية وغير القولةي مع تفاوت النسبة في حظ الوجدان والعقل في كل فن من هذه الفنون.
ويوضح أن منبع الفلسفة والفكر والنقد الأدبي إنما هو "العقل" ولا بد من الوجدان كحافز إلى التفكير.
ويوضح - من خلا مثال - أن القرآن الكريم معجز لا يستطيع البشر في تعبيرهم أن يقتربوا منه، وأن الحديث لا يستطيع البشر أن يصلوا إلى مستواه، ويوضح أن القرآن الكريم لا يقول إلا الحق والواقع حتى في مجال القصّ، وأن الحديث مثله في هذه الناحية.
ويوضح أن المستشرقين قدموا أحكاماً "مغلوطة" عن الشعر العربي، لعدم القدرة عند بعضهم على تذوقه، ولسوء نية بعضهم، لأنه يريد من وراء ذلك التقليل من قيمة الشعر الجاهلي أن يسقط مادة أساسية في فهم اللغة والقرآن الكريم.
ويوضح أن الشاعر ليس متنبئاً، وليس له حكم فوق حكم شيخ القبيلة، وليس حَكَماً يُفزع إليه في أمور الأحكام والأقضية، بل إن منزلته الإجتماعية دون منزلة شيخ القبيلة بوضوح، وإن كان كلامه من أرقى الكلام، وإن كان كلامه يُبقي له شهرة - بعد موته - بقرن أو قرون، أكثر بكثير من شهرة شيخ قبيلته.
هذا كتاب يذكر لك من الجديد ما لم تذكره الكتب السابقة.
