وقد حررها نخبة من أساتذة الجامعات المختصيِّين بالتاريخ والحضارات، وكتب كل منهم بحسب إختصاصه عن الحضارة التي إختارها بنفسه من بين أربعين حضارة قديمة تضمَّنتها الموسوعة، وحمل موضوع كل حضارة اسم كاتبه، وذُيِّل بالمصادر والمراجع التي يمكن أن يعود إليها من يهمه الإستزادة من المعلومات عن تلك الحضارة.
