فإنه لا يخفى ما للفقه الإسلامي من أهمية بين علوم الشريعة، وهذه الأهمية تزداد وضوحاً لمن اطلع على الكتب الأصيلة القديمة، التي تجمع إلى كل حكم فقهي دليله من مصادر الشريعة: الكتاب والسنة، والإجماع والقياس، وغيرها.
ومما حفظ لنا من التراث العالي في التحقيق والاستنباط وذكر الخلاف، الكتاب الفذ: "الهداية" للإمام المرغيناني.
و "الهداية" كتاب أصيل في فقه السادة الأحناف، منقطع النظير في قبوله بين كتب المذهب الحنفي خاصة، وكتب المذاهب الأخرى عامة، فهو أحد الكتب التي عنيت بذكر دليل كل حكم تذكره، وعليه اعتماد جل من جاء بعده، فتجلى الاهتمام به شرحاً، وتحشية، واختصاراً، وتخريجاً لأحاديثه.
ومن العلماء الذين اعتنوا بتخريج أحاديث "الهداية" اعتناءً تاماً الحافظ الزيلعي، وسماه "نصب الراية". فقد قام بتخريج الأحاديث والآثار سواء كانت دليلاً للمذهب الحنفي أم لغيره من المذاهب الثلاث الأخرى بقوله: "أحاديث الخصوم".
فأصبح "نصب لراية" موسوعة في علل الأحاديث ونقدها، لا سيما فيما اشتهر فيه الخلاف، وعزو كل قول إلى قائله بأمانة ودقة تامتين.
كما أن المؤلف قد توفي قبل إتمام "نصب الراية"، وذلك لعدم وجود مقدمة للكتاب، ولأبواب فيه لم يتم تخريجها، كما في جميع النسخ المخطوطة المقابل عليها.
فكتاب "نصب الراية" لأحاديث الهداية، معه حاشيته النفيسة المهمة "بغية الألمعي في تخريج الزيلعي" وهو مؤلف من أربعة أجزاء، وملحق معه جزأين: المقدمة، والفهارس.
أما المقدمة، فقد أفرد فيها المحقق الفصول التالية: "دراسة حديثية مقارنة لنصب الراية وفتح القدير ومنية الألمعي"، وكتاب "منية الألمعي فيما فات من تخريج أحاديث الهداية للزيلعي، للحافظ قاسم بن قطلوبغا"، و "حواشي ابن حجر على الجزء الثاني من نصب الراية" وإفادات واستدراكات علمية.
أما جزء الفهارس، فيضم : الآيات القرآنية، وأطراف الأحاديث والآثار، ومسانيد الصحابة والتابعين، وأسماء المصادر التي رجع إليها الحافظ الزيلعي، والألفاظ الحديثية الغريبة، وأسماء الأماكن، والأعلام، والأشعار، والكتب والأبواب والفصول وغيرها.
