السيرة الشخصية فنّ سردي يأخذ من السيرة شخصية صاحبها والمحطات الرئيسية في حياته والوقائع المادية المثبتة التي لا سبيل إلى تغييراها والإجتهاد فيها، وفي كتابها (ذكرياتي) تقول الدكتورة فاطمة طباطبائي / زوجة السيد أحمد الخميني، ذكريات جديرة أن تُروى، تدخل ضمن دائرة التاريخ الشفهي، بكل نقاط الضعف والقوة التي تميز هذه الدائرة، حيث أن أيّ تاريخ مدوّن كان في البدء تاريخاً شفهياً يسرد وقائعه شاهد عيان بالقرب منها، وربما كان أحد صانعيها. وعلى أي حال تقول المؤلفة: هذا الكتاب تاريخ شفهي حاولت أن أنقل حوادثه، وأروي وقائعه، بكل أمانة وصدق، بعيداً عن نقاط الضعف التي تميّز مثل هذا التاريخ على الأغلب، مع الإلتزام ببعض النقاط الهامة". ومن هذه النقاط التي تذكرها المؤلفة الإستفادة من آراء وذاكرة الذين شهدوا تلك الوقائع، والإبتعاد عن التحليل والتفسير، والإبتعاد أيضاً عن مشاعر الحب والكراهية، والإكتفاء بسرد الحقائق، والنظر إليها من منظار تاريخي بحت، مع تجنّب قراءة حوادث التاريخ من منظار الحوادث التي تجري حالياً، مع إقرار المؤلفة "بأن كشف خبايا حياة الشخصيات العظيمة ليست مهمة صعبة وعظيمة فحسب، بل إنها فضيلة كبرى لا بدّ أن تكون متلازمة مع الأمانة والصدق ... وأشرت في هذا الكتاب إلى أسرتي لأنها لعبت دوراً معيناً في حركة الإصلاح الإجتماعي في إيران، وتميزت بمكانة ما في تاريخ هذه البلاد ...". هذا، وقد أضافت المؤلفة إلى الكتاب مجموعة من الصور والوثائق عن العائلة والأصدقاء والبلاد.
