"لو هنفرين" قصة رمزية وهي إحدى روائع قصص الأوبرا العالمية للمؤلف الموسيقي كلود ديبوسي، تدورأحداثها في القرن العاشر الميلادي في هولندا التي وصلها للتو ملك المانيا هنريخ درفوغلي وجنوده الذي بدأ يحث شعب برانبت للوقوف ضد الهنغاريين وحماية ارضهم، ولكن دوق برابنت كان قد توفي تاركاً إبنته "إلسا" وإبنه "غوتغريد" في وصاية الكونت "تيلرامند" الذي كان ينوي الزواج من إلسا. ولكن عدل عن الزواج منها لأنها قتلت أخاها برميه في بركة ماء رغبة منها في أن تصبح هي الدوقة، وتزود عوضاً منها أورترود.
تتوالى الأحداث في القصة حتى يكتشف الملك كذب الكونت تيلرامند وبراءة إلسا من التهمة المنسوبة إليها. وتنتهي القصة بمقتل تيلرامند على يد الفارس الذي اختار أن يبارز الكونت للفوز بحب إلسا والزواج منها والذي يفاجأ الجميع بأنه "فارس الكأس المقدسة ويدعى لوهنغرين" وأنه جاء لإنقاذ البلاد من العدو بقوة الكأس المقدسة ...
