مما لا شك فيه أن للراغب الأصفهاني جولات في التأمل الفلسفي والكلامي والتشريعي والخلقي، وفي التصوف، تتجلى فيها ملامح الأصالة في تفكيره وعذوبة الطابع الخلقي في تصويره، وقد امتاز أسلوبه في عرض أفكاره بالمزج بين الحقائق التي حال التوتر المذهبي والجدلي وأساليب الجدل والمغالبة والمناظرة دون المزج والتوفيق بينها أحقاباً.
ومع قلة ما وصلنا من مصنفاته فإن في القلة التي وصلتنا ما يجلو هذه الجوانب الأصيلة التي بهرت الغزالي في زمنها، وحملته على العناية بآثار هذا المفكر، وحملها معه والتأثر بها، وحيث أن مذاهب الراغب في فلسفة التشريع والأخلاق والتصوف لم تزل تتسم بطابع الحيوية والجدة والصدق فقد عقد "صلاح الدين الناهي" عزيمته على أن يستخرج من خلال ما تبقى من آثار هذا الفيلسوف المتشرع والأخلاقي المتصوف ما رآه جديراً بعنوان هذه الرسالة، بالخوالد من (آراء الراغب الأصفهاني في فلسفة الأخلاق والتشريع والتصوف) جرياً على الخطة التي رسمها لتجديد التراث الفكري في مجموعة مقالاته الموسومة بسبل التجديد في الفكر العربي والإسلامي.
فقد قال في أول مقالة منها: "إن تراثنا الفكري بحاجة إلى تحري سبل التجديد وتحديد معالمه وإزالة ما شابه من غث هزيل وإبراز ما أمتاز به من عناصر الخلود والأصالة والجدة والصدق والعدل والجمال، على أن تكون خطتنا في هذا المضمار بعيدة عن الخيال والخيلاء قريبة من الواقع والحق الثابت لمن يتلمس الحق بالأساليب العقلية والعلمية والمحايدة المتزنة.
على هذا النهج استعرض الباحث في هذه الرسالة كل خالد وأصيل من آراء الراغب الأصفهاني إسهاماً متواضعاً منه في حركة تجديد التراث.
