يعتبر كتاب التشوف للتادلي أهم نص في مناقب صلحاء المغرب وصل إلينا كاملاً، فقد ضم أخبار سبعة وسبعين ومائتين من رجالات الولاية والعلم، عاشوا كلهم في القرنين الخامس والسادس الهجريين، روى المؤلف الذي كتب عام 617هـ أخبارهم بالسند عبر جيل أو جيلين أو ثلاثة أجيال.
وجاءت في ثنايا هذه الأخبار مادة تهم التاريخ الديني وتاريخ التصوف خاصة، كما تضم مادة تصلح لمؤرخ المجتمع ومؤرخ الذهنيات، بل وحتى لمؤرخ السياسة.
والنص منذ نشره محل قراءات متعددة تبين عن غناه على الصعيدين المحلي والإنساني، فهو لوحات لإعلاء قيم لا تبلى، وأسلوب نبيل صنع به المؤلف أجنحة التحليق في سماء الروحانية لضعفاء من الناس كانوا في حساب دائم مع النفس.
ويضم هذا المجلد نصاً آخر للتادلي، خصّصه لأخبار أبي العباس السبتي، الرجل الذي أدار مذهبه على الصدقة، عطاء ينفعل له الوجود.
