والكتاب عبارة عن محاضرات موجهة بشكل خاص إلى طلبة كلية الآداب، قسم التاريخ وهو موجز ومختصر في شكله لكنه مكثف وواسع في مضمونه ولا غنى لكل باحث أو دارس عن اقتنائه.
