لطالما كان "فنسنت" مؤمناً أن للألوان سطوة غريبة على روحه، يتغير مزاجه بِتَغيُّرِها، وتتّسع اللوحة أمامه فضاء متفهماً، كنت أراه أكثر ابتهاجاً على ضفاف حقل ما، بينما تكون الشمس قد أثارت العالم حوله، أقترب منه، لا يراني في غمرة انهماكه، يضرب بريشته اللوحة ضربات خفيفة، يطالعني وجههاً مبتهجاً بأشجار السّرو التي تحوطه، ولكن تبقى تلك من المرات القليلة التي يعتدل فيها مزاجه.
