النكديون من البيوتات الدرزية الكبرى وهم العشيرة الثالثة بين العشائر الخمس المشايخ ذوي الإقطاع، ونسبهم يتصل بقبيلة من عرب الحجاز، وفي هذا الكتاب الذي يتناول تاريخ العشيرة النكدية ودورها في تبدل العلاقات بين الأسر المقاطعجية الدرزية والأمراء الشهابيين. وهو يحاول القيام بذلك من خلال دراسة سيرة السرة الندية وتحليل الأسباب التي أدت إلى نكبة النكديين.
كما يحوي هذا الكتاب كل ما كتبه المؤرخون المعاصرون عن الأسرة النكدية والجدير بالذكر أن المؤلف هو أحد أحفاد حمود بن قاسم بن كليب النكدي الذي برز اسمه في أواخر عهد الإمارة الشهابية وعهد القائمقاميتين. وأصل الكتاب مخطوطة محفوظة في مكتبة الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت. وقد عمدت المحققة إلى المحافظة على النص بشكله الأصلي بهدف تقديم النص صحيحاً كما وضعه المؤلف، وقامت بتصحيح بعض الأخطاء الإملائية، وعرفت أسماء الأعلام التي وجدتها في المراجع وبأسماء الأماكن غير المعروفة وبعض الاصطلاحات خصوصاً العسكرية منها.
