في جديده الشعري "تجري في عيون أوقاتنا .." يكتب عبد الباسط بن حسن عن الماضي وذكرياته، ممثلما يكتب عن الحاضر وأوجاعه. فالتجربة الشعرية تبدو وكأنها تأخذ الشاعر إلى آفاق وحدود غير معلنة وغير مقيدة، وحده الشعر يستطيع أن يقارع رياح الزمن الآتي، وبين الزمن الآفل والزمن القادم تتموضع قصائد الشاعر غير هيابة بالأزمنة الماضية أو تلك لتي لم تأتِ بعد. كل هذه المعاني يبدو أن الشاعر استلهما من غربته، وأسس بها القيمة الراهنية للنص، فحمل بين صفحات كتابه عوالمه بكل تفاصيلها، ووهبها أحساسه، وتلك هي حال الشعراء، يحفرون بذاكرتهم القصيرة زمناً والكبيرة أحداثاً تعيد رسم الماضي بكلمات أجمل.
من عوالم قصيدته المعنونة "دنيا جديدة .." نقرأ للشاعر بن حسن:
" ... لحظة .. بعد لحظة / حين تبدأ تمويمات بوحنا / في فتح أبواب الشجر / وأفواه حبّات الكرز / وبطون الحجر والتراب / يلفنا فرح مجنون / ويسيل ذهب لغاتنا في أنهار / حياة جديدة" . وكما يقول الشاعر عن قصائده: "لم تكن القصائد بحثاً عن أجوبة الذاكرة بل قد يكون البحث هو الجواب. هكذا، بدأت كلمات وصور وأماكن تخرج لتؤثث بأصواتها الهامسة حديث الروح المنفرد ...".
يضم الكتاب ما يقارب الأربعين قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "حتى الكلام لا يصغي" ، "حياة أخرى" ، "حدائق بيضاء" ، "زيارة" ، "أقحوان" ، "إحتباس" ، "رحلة" ، "درس حقوقي" ، "حواس" ، "الشعراء" ، "غسل الأب" ، "فقدان" (...) وعناوين اخرى.
