تتجول ماربل التي جاءت إلى ذلك القصر بطلب من صديقتها رودريك، حيث كن، الثلاثة صديقات دراسة، وقد تحولت مع المفتش كيري إلى محققة في تلك الجريمة. ترى من كان وراء مقتل كريستيان غولبراندسن؟ وما دور المرايا في تلك الجريمة؟!! هذا ما ستدور حوله تلك القصة المشوقة المثيرة بأحداثها، المتميزة بأجوائها البوليسية الذي تحمله قصص أغاثا كريستي.
الآنسة ماربل تذهب للعيش في قصر ريفي واسع أُقيم فيه مشروع إصلاحي يضم نحو مئتين من الأحداث المنحرفين الذين يسعى أصحاب المشروع إلى تأهيلهم.
لقد جاءت الآنسة ماربل إلى هذا المكان الغريب استجابةً لطلب من واحدة من صديقات دراستها القديمات، بعدما سيطر على هذه الصديقة شعور غريب بالخطر على أختها المقيمة في هذا القصر.
