وليس غرض هذا الكتاب أن يكون دعوة أخلاقية، يحض على فضائل تعايش الأديان والحوار بينها - وإن كان صاحبه يجل ذلك الدور - ولكنه حديث عن الأديان حين تنزل معترك الإجتماع، وحين يتحكم بعضها بمصائر بعض.
ينأى المؤلّف عن المطارحات الشائعة في حوارات المجاملة، التي طالما تتناول المنشود وتغفل عما هو موجود، ليقف على نقيض تلك المقاربة، واضعاً القارئ أمام واقع التدافع الديني، بشكليه، المحمود والمذموم.
