هذا هو الكتاب الأول من المكتبة الأندلسية وهو يضم أخباراً تبدأ بفتح الأندلس، فتذكر أمرائها من العرب، وأخبار الأمير عبد الرحمن ابن محمد بن عبد الله المتوفي سنة خمسين وثلاثمائة من الهجرة، وميزة هذا الكتاب تظهر في أنه لم ينقل عن كتب، وإنما أخذ مشافهة في الكثير وتم فيه صياغة الأخبار المسموعة، وذلك يظهر مما يلي: حريات عباراته على نمط واحد، الجامع لهذا الكتاب لم يكن على مستوى لغوي رفيع، بدليل الأخطاء النحوية والإملائية التي وقع فيها المؤلف.
