يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن بعض الشخصيات التاريخية العربية التي عاشت في بوادي العرب ومناطقها الداخلية وما حولها وكان لهذه الشخصية تأثير على مجريات الأحداث السياسية والاقتصادية والعسكرية الإقليمية منها والدولية ومن هذه القيادات من أسس دول ومنهم من أسس مدن وساهم في تطوير مناطق الزراعة وإنشاء الثروات الحيوانية وجميعهم كان لهم تأثير على القضايا العربية وسياستها والبعض الآخر على تأمين طرق البادية التي ساهمت بشكل أساسي في تطوير حركة التجارة بين المدن والعواصم آنذاك ولكن لا يخلو الأمر من مواقف وتحركات كانت تخدم أصحابها ومصالحهم الشخصية الخاصة في بعض الأحيان وهذا طبيعي بتاريخ الأمم والحضارات لذلك اتبع المؤلف في كتابه هذا أسلوب الاختصار والتجرد والشفافية والموضوعية في مجريات الأحداث التاريخية الهامة وقام بتسليط الضوء عبر الصور والشرح على بعض الشخصيات التي لم تأخذ حقهم التاريخي في مجتمعاتنا الأدبية الحاضرة، ومن أبرز الشخصيات التي تحدث عنها المؤلف نذكر: ابن ثاني، ابن حبور، ابن صباح، ابن خليفة، فيصل الأول، الباشا، ابن شلاش، ابن طوالة، ابن مهيد، السديري، الأطرش، ابن سعود، الدويش وغيرهم.
يعتبر هذا الكتاب تمهيداً لرسالة موسعة أعدها لنيل شهادة الماجستير في الجغرافيا السياسية، ووفاءً للكاتبين البيروتيين الراحلين عبد الله وعبد الكريم كريدية الذين كتبا عن شؤون البادية ومضاربها لعشرات السنين من القرن العشرين، بدءاً بشيوخها ومضاربها وانتهاءً بحكامها وبلدانهم، وهذا ليس بغريب أو جديد على أبناء بيروت أم الشرائع والتاريخ والثقافة والفنون.
