كتابٌ في التَّراجم يَتميَّز بأنَّه اختار مُترجميه؛ بناءً على ألوانهم، على خلاف المعتاد من كتب التَّراجم الإسلاميَّة، وكانت ميزةُ هذه الأعلام أنَّهم من سود البشرة؛ إذ لم نجد كتابًا ترجميًّا صنَّفه أعلامُه بين أبيضَ وأسودَ، فلا فرقَ في أذهانهم بينهم، وإنَّما الفرقُ وتقسيم المجتمع لعروق عليا ودنيا هو في أذهاننا جرّاءَ الثَّقافات المُصدَّرة لنا أو العادات الجاهليَّة المُتوارثة، فكان السَّببُ في تأليفه السَّعي إلى إزاحة التباسٍ كان في ذهن إخواننا الأفارقة، وهو أنَّ لا أجدادَ لهم في الإسلام وما جاء إسلامُهم إلّا حديثًا عن طريق الدُّعاة. فكان هذا الكتاب الذي أثبت ألّا فضل لعربيٍّ على أعجميٍّ إلّا بالتَّقوى، وكيف كان أعاجمُ المسلمين يتصدَّرون للفتوى والقضاء والمراكز العليا دون اعتبارٍ لألوانهم أو بلدانهم، بل كان الاعتبارُ كلُّ الاعتبار لعلمهم وفضلهم. ترجم الكتاب ل 101 من الأنبياء والصَّالحين والصَّحابة والتابعين والعلماء إلى أيّامنا هذه مُرتَّبين تبعًا لسنيِّ وفاتهم، لم يكن القصد من الكتاب الاستقصاء بل التَّمثيل على عالميَّة هذا الدِّين وإنسانيَّته ومساواته بين الأعراق، وتبعًا لأسس ديننا لا حاجة للمُساواة إذ لا فرق في الأذهان أصلًا
