رواية رائدة في حقل الأدب الروحي في شرقنا العربي. مسرحها ضيعة "كفرمشرق" في ريف لبنان، حيث نشب نزاع مرير بين عشيرتَي "عتيمات" و"عنبوس". بطلها شاب، هو إبن مختار "آل عتيمات"، سافر إلى أمريكا ليدرس الطب، حيث اختبر الخلاص، ثمّ عاد إلى وطنه لبنان بقلبٍ مُفعم من المحبة، يراوده الأمل بأن يفتح عيادة في ضيعته خدمةً لأبناء بلده، إلاّ أنّ التناحر بين العشيرتَين حال دون ذلك. موضوعها قصة حب أصيل تزهو زنابقه بين أشواك التعادي والتباغض، فيرتفع لِواء المحبة خفّاقًا في خضم العداء والبغضاء. مؤلِّفها كاتب بارع مُلهَم يأسر القارىء بأسلوبه الروائي الرائع، وتحليله النفسي الدقيق، وبراعته الوصفية الرهيفة. رواية يطغى عليها عنصر التشويق فتحبس الأنفاس.
