لا شكَّ أنَّ الفقه مرتبته شريفة، ومزاياه منيفة، ولذا كان الاهتمامُ به في الدرجة الأُولى؛ لأنَّ سبيلَه سبيلُ الجنة، والعمل به حرزٌ من النَّار وجُنَّة؛ كما قال الإمام الحصني في مقدمة الكتاب. ولأنَّ مشاغل الحياة الدنيا كثيرةٌ، وواجباتِ المؤمن عديدةٌ، ولأنَّ فضلَ الفقه عظيمٌ؛ إذ هو زبدة المصادر التشريعية.. أراد المؤلفُ أن يضعَ شرحاً فقهياً متوسِّطاً لطُّلاب العلم المتخصصين وغير المتخصصين معاً.
ولأهمية كتاب «غاية الاختصار» المعروف بـ«متن أبي شُجاع» وانتشاره، وكثرة الاعتناء بحفظه.. جعلَ عليه هذا الشرح الجميل، الذي شرح فيه متن الكتاب وذكر التعريفات التي لا بدَّ منها، ودعم الأحكام الفقهية بالدليل وإن لم يكن فيشير إلى التعليل، مع شيء من التفسير والتخريج لا يُخرج الكتاب عن مُراده وموضوعه، إضافةً إلى التفريعات الفقهية الأُخرى التي تهمُّ طلاَّب العلم، بأسلوب واضح بيِّن رصين. ومما زاده وضوحاً.. كثرةُ تقسيمات الكتابِ وتفريعاته. وهو كتابٌ معروفٌ بين طلاَّب العلم ومشهورٌ جدّاً، ولطالما تأبَّطه المتفقِّهون.
علماً أن النُّسخ المطبوعة المتداوَلة بين طلاَّب العلم كثيرةُ الأخطاء والتحريفات، وبعضها يؤدّي إلى تغييرٍ للمعنى وللأسف، وهذا أمر خطيرٌ ومؤلمٌ. وهذه الخطورة غير خفيَّة على طلاَّب العلم الذين يتعاملون معه بمضَضٍ وانقباضٍ شديدين. ولقد حدَّثَنا بعضُ أهل العلم الذين اجتمعنا معهم بكثيرٍ من الإشكالات التي كانوا يمرُّون عليها أثناء دروسهم ويحاولون حلَّها قدر الإمكان، وأُسُّ هذه الإشكالات الأخطاءُ والتحريفاتُ. ولفتوا انتباهنا إلى مدى الجهد الكبير الذي يمكن أن يواجهنا عند العمل بتحقيق هذه الكتاب القيِّم الذي لم يعطَ حقَّه عند أهل التحقيق. وفعلاً كان الجهد كبيراً، وأكبر مما توقَّعنا، فكان العمل إنجازاً موفَّقاً بعون الله وفضله، رغم ما تكبدنا فيه من العناء.
وإن مما أثرى هذا الكتاب وزاده زخماً علمياً وفوائد نادرةً نفيسةً: هو كثرة الأصول الخطيَّة التي لا تخلو من حواشٍ وتعليقاتٍ وفروق نسخٍ، استطعنا عبرها أن نستخرج كوامن الفقه وغوامضه الدَّفينة. وكثرةُ الأصول الخطيَّة هذه جعلتنا نتميَّز بالدقة والإتقان، والحرص على إخراج التراث الفقهي مبرّأً من وصمة التحريف والتصحيف.
