كان المكان صاخبًا لدرجة يذبح فيها كل وصف للهدوء، حيث كنت أنا أتجول، لم أكن مع الذين يمرحون ويصخبون، وإنما كنت أتأمل وأنظر. كعادتي أقف صامتًا أنظر لكل شيء، أريد أن أكون أنا الذي يراقب دائمًا لا العكس.
الأعلام ترفع يمينًا وشمالًا، والنيران تشتعل كما لم تشتعل من قبل. كنت أشعر بنفس شعور الباقين من السعادة إن لم يكن أكثر، لكني أكتم ذلك الشعور داخلي؛ حيث إني لم أتعلم كيف أظهره على عكس شهور الحزن الذي يجري في نهاري وليلي مجري الأنهار التي لا ينفد ماؤها عندما أشعر به.
كنت أقف ثم أمشي- هكذا دواليك- لا أستقر على حال، وذلك حالي دائمًا سريعًا ما أصاب بالملل من أي شيء أفعله في فترة قصيرة جدًا، حتى ولو كان ذلك الشيء منذ برهة من الوقت كان كل ما أتمناه!
ولكني كسرت تلك القاعدة ووقفت فترة تعد طويلة بالنسبة لي في مكان ما، كان أكثر الأماكن صخبًا وأكثرها أحداثًا، كان ذلك يقتل الملل.
شاب واقف ساكن لا يتحرك، يضع يديه بجيوب الجاكت- ليس ذلك من قبيل البرد ولكني أظن أن ذلك يعطي فرصة أكبر للتأمل- كان وجهي ينحرف بكل الزوايا وفي كل الاتجاهات، أنظر إلى ذلك فأمل منه يشد عيني غيره فأنظر إليه. وبداخلي أُطلق تعليقًا على كل ما يحدث لا يسمعه غيري.
وفي مرة انحرفت عيناي ثم وقفت للحظات قليلة ثم عادت بسرعة.
