المجموعة عبارة عن لوحات سردية قصيرة، تقص مواقف ومشاهدات من السيرة الذاتية فى واقع ريفى فقير في أحد الحقول، والذي يعمل فيه مجموعة من البسطاء والمهمشين، وسط مجموعة من الظروف المعيشية الصعبة، والتي تنتهى غالبا بمفارقات أو نهايات مباغتة تكشف عن مأساة الحياة المعيشة وقسوتها، خصوصا على طبقة الفقراء والمهمشين.
وعن الكتاب يقول المؤلف: "انحازت هذه المجموعة السردية إلى عالم المهمشين، خصوصا فى القرية المصرية، حيث تكشف بعفوية بالغة وبساطة آسرة عما يموج به هذا العالم من سمات إنسانية متدفقة بحميا الروح الإنسانى"، وأضاف "عايدي" أنني اخترت الكتابة عن عالم المهمشين، لقربي منهم بتجلياتهم الإنسانية الافتة، والتي استطعت أن ألتقطها من عالمهم الثرى.
