تمّ إختيار اللّسانيات التّداولية للتّطبيق على "مفتاح العلوم" لأنّها تدرس اللّغة أثناء الإستعمال بإعتبارها ظاهرة خطابيّة تواصلية تحوي قوّة إنجازية، وهو ما يصلح للتّطبيق على لغتنا العربية؛ إذ تتألف من عديد الصّيغ والأساليب والأدوات التي يستعملها المتكلّم للدّلالة على القوّة الإنجازية التي يقصد تضمينها خطابه مثل التقرير والإستفهام والإخبار والتّمني والتّأكيد والإثبات، ولا سيما عند البلاغيّين، ونحن نعلم أنّ السّكاكي حصر البلاغة في علمي المعاني والبيان مع إضافة ما يلزم كل منها من علوم وآليّات موضّحة ومساعدة ولعلّ هذا ما يجعل منه نبعاً صافياً لبحث مظاهر اللّسانيات التداولية، وبيان مدى إستيعاب فكر السّكاكي للتقريب التّداولي وتطبيقه في مباحث مفتاح العلوم.
فالهدف من الدّراسة إذن يكمن في محاولة تأصيل المعرفة اللّغوية التراثية وتحديد الموقع المناسب لها، في عصر يعرف تغييرات لسانيّة وتراكماً للمعلومات والمعارف بصورة كبيرة لا يمكن متابعتها، كما يذهب الباحث "أحمد المتوكل"، إلاّ بالتّقريب التّداولي الذي ينفتح على كثير من السّياقات ويدمج في مقاربته عديداً من الآليّات تسهم في كشف المعنى وضبطه.
وقد سعيت من خلال هذا البحث أن أجعل لمفتاح العلوم موقعاً وسط هذا الزّخم الكبير من الدّراسات اللّغوية، وذلك بتسليط الضّوء على جوانبه الحيّة والإيجابية من أجل تطويرها وإعادة صياغتها بما يتّفق مع التّطور المعرفيّ في زمننا الحاضر، من خلال الإفادة بقدر ما تسمح به الإمكانات والظروف من أبحاث المشتغلين في حقل اللّغة والمعرفة عموماً قدماء ومحدثين.
