أحمد عثمان، (8 يوليو 1907 - 13 نوفمبر 1970م )، نحات وكاتب وباحث في علم المصريات ولد بمحافظة أسوان. التحق بمدرسة الفنون والزخارف المصرية عام 1923م وبعد تخرجه عام 1927م عين مسجلاً للحفريات الاثرية في فلسطين، ثم سافر إلى إيطاليا في بعثة، وحصل على الدكتوراه في النحت.

فى هذا الكتاب فعاليات الحلقة البحثية الاولى التى اقيمت احتفالا بصدور ترجمه الالياذه عن اللغه الاغريقية مباشرة لاول مرة وفى ذكرى مرور مائة عام على اول ترجمة عربية شعرية والتى انجزها سليمان البستانى عام 1904 وضمت الحلقة البحتية حوالى عشرين بحثا الى جانب المائدة المستديرة التى شارك فيها الكثيرون من اعلام الدراسات الكلاسيكية وونجوم الحياة الثقافية المصرية والعربية وبعض الاساتذه الاجانب وقد ضمت الحلقة موضوعات تخصصيه دقيقة وموضوعات عامة تشمل عدة مقارنات مع الادب العربى وكافة الادراب العالمية وتربط بين سائر فنون الادب ولاسيما المسرح والرواية وتصل بين الشرق والغرب القديم والحديث .
