وجدت الرياضة مع وجود الإنسان الأول كنشاط ضروري لحياته تماماً كما وجد معها القانون كوسيلة لتنظيم معاملاته، وتطوراً معاً عبر الزمن ليأخذ أنماطاً إجتماعية وسياسية وأيديولوجية سواء من حيث الهدف أو الأسلوب، فأصبحت الرياضة نظاماً إجتماعياً خاصاً له أهدافه ومقوماته وخصائصه في نطاق دولي مترابط عن طريق الإتحادات الرياضية الدولية واللجان الأولمبية والمنظمات والهيئات الإقليمية والقارية، مما أكسب التنظيمات الرياضية صفة إنسانية رفيعة تقوم على أساس متين من النظم والقواعد والتشريعات القانونية.
حتى فترة متأخّرة في العصور الحديثة كان السائد أن الرياضة تتعلّق بالقوة البدنية وعضلات الجسم وقوة التحمّل وتتعلّق بالتدريب والتمرّن.
لكن مع التطوّر العلمي بدا واضحاً ان هذا التطوّر كما غزا كل شيء غزا الرياضة فاتّضحت صحة المقولة القديمة التي نادى بها رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وسلم) العقل السليم في الجسم السليم فأصبحت الرياضة إستراتيجيات وخطط وإبداع ولم تعد تتعلّق بالعضلات وحدها إنما أصبحت تكامل بين العقل والعضلات وخلقت فرص عمل جديدة ومهناً جديدة بسبب التخصّص احترف الرياضي وخلقت مهنة الوكيل ووجدت العقود الرياضية والنوادي الرياضية بعضها صار له محطة تلفزة خاصة.
