إن المتصفح لفصول هذا الكتاب يدرك للوهلة الأولى مدى الحاجة إلى مثل هذا الكتاب، لأن مؤلفه قد عالج فيه، نظرياً وتطبيقياً، قضايا الكتابة المختلفة التي تنمي المهارات المتعددة لدى الطلاب. فمن جمع القرآن الكريم في مراحله المختلفة إلى إبراز أهمية الكتابة واكتساب المهارة الفنية الجيدة، إلى علم اللغة وعلم البيان، وتشأة الكتابة العربية وصفاتها الجيدة، إلى الضوابط الإملائية وعلامات الترقيم، إلى غير ذلك مما يتعلق بفن الكتابة والتعبير يجعلنا نطمئن إلى أن المؤلف قد بذل جهداً يحمد عليه، لما قدمه في هذا المجال. ولم يفت الأستاذ النجار أن يغطي كتابه بموضوعين على جانب كبير من الأ÷مية، وهما (فن التلخيص) الذي عالجه في الفصل العاشر، و(كيف تكتب بحثاً) في الفصل الحادي عشر. ولا يخفى ما يشتمل عليه الموضوع الأول من جدية لا تجدها متوفرة بين الطلاب، بينما يعاني هؤلاء الطلاب من عدم معرفة كتابة بحث بصورة علمية دقيقة، وهذا ما حاول المؤلف التعرض له في الفصل الحادي عشر من الكتاب. إن كتاب (الأسس الفنية للكتابة والتعبير) هو بحق كتاب لا يستعني عنه طالب علم، أو دارس، أو باحث، وهو جدير بأن تضمه كل مكتبة عربية إلى ذخيرتها العلمية والأدبية، لما يشتمل عليه من فوائد جمة خاصة في كليات التربية والآداب، ولما يحتويه من جوانب تطبيقية.
