خرج على أمة الإسلام من يدعون أن السنة النبوية المطهرة ليست مصدرًا من مصادر التشريع، فاتهموها بالتحريف والبعد الزمني بين وقت تسجيلها وحياة النبي (صلى الله عليه وسلم) .. وعلى الرغم أنها شبهات واضحة الأهداف والأغراض، لا تخفي على كل ذي بصيرة، إلا أنه لزم الرد ووجب بيان الحق في هذا الأمر.. وهو ما قام به الدكتور (جمال محمود خلف) خير قيام ، وذلك عندما قدم دراسته التي بين أيدينا مثبتًا بها تدوين وتوثيق السنة النبوية المطهرة في حياة الرسول (صلى الله عليه وسلم) الذي لم يكن نهيه عن الكتابة لصحابته إلا نهيًا مؤقتًا ومفيدًا في حالة معينة، وهو ما بينته الدراسة بجانب الوقوف بنا على شرح مدلول السنة عند علماء اللغة، الحديث والفقه والدعوة والإرشاد وفي القرآن الكريم، مع بيان دور السنة النبوية الذي لا غنى عنه بجانب القرآن الكريم ولم تكن الدراسة مقصورة على هذا وإنما قدم المؤلف الإثباتات والدلائل من أكثر من أربعمائة رسالة مكتوبة وموجودة حتى الآن، فكان تناوله لموضوع بحثه شاملًا ومدحضًا لكافة الأصوات المخالفة.
