تشير المصادر التاريخية، إلى أن يهود مصر لم يعيشوا في معزل أو داخل جيتو، ولم يعتبرهم المجتمع– جالية أجنبية– بل مصريون اعتنقوا الدين اليهودي، والسلوك الاجتماعي لم يميزهم عن بقية أبناء المجتمع المصر. التسامح الفطري وعلاقات الود تسود المجتمع: مسلمين ويهود وأقباط، معايشة مجردة من كل تعصب ديني.
توجهت دراسة الكتاب إلى طابع التقاليد الدينية، وتفاصيل الحياه اليومية ليهود مصر، لكي نتفهم أكثر، الشخصية اليهوديه وتناقضاتها!... ولما كانت أسفار التوارة وتعاليم التلمود، تشكل أساسًا لنظامهم الاجتماعي، فإن تفسيرات الحاخامات لهذه الأسفار والتعاليم، قد لعبت دورًا هامًا فى تشكيل المفاهيم الدينية لدى الطوائف اليهودية، وألقت بظلالها على الطقوس الدينية الجامدة المتخلفة ليهود مصر!!.
تنتهي دراسة الكتاب إلى دحض مزاعم المؤرخين الإسرائيلين، وإدعائهم بأن الطائفة اليهودية في مصر، كانت متمايزة: دينيًا وثقافيًا واقتصاديًا واجتماعيًا، وقوميًا، وأنها كانت تشكل جزءًا مما يسمى بـ"الشعب اليهودي"!!؟ الذي اختلقوه من ظلمات الأوهام وضباب الأساطير استنادًا إلى تلك "الصلات الدقيقة التى تربط بين يهود العالم على الرغم من تباين العادات والتقاليد" والتي لم يستطيع د.شيمون شامير السفير الإسرائيلي الأسبق بالقاهرة تفسيرها أو حتى فهمها، طبقًا لتعبيره في إحدى محاضراته ". ولهذا تأتي أهمية اقتناء هذا الكتاب.
