في هذا الكتاب يقدم الأستاذ " محمد ممتاز عبد القادر" رحلة هذا النادى العملاق منذ بدايته وحتى الآن، يتابع تطوره منذ عام 1908 وحتى القرن الحادى والعشرين ونجومة اللامعين دائماً فى سماء كرة القدم .. أسماء لاتنسى ولا تمحى من ذاكرة الوطن والجماهير.. المايسترو "صالح سليم" بيبو "محمود الخطيب" .. وحش أفريقيا "إكرامى" .. ومن الحاضر " أبو تريكة" و "عماد متعب" وغيرهم ممن أجتمعوا على هذه الصفحات كما إجتمعوا من قبل تحت سماء النادي العريق لنسمع منهم ومعهم "حدوته" الأهلى المصرى.
الاهلى ليس مجرد فريق كرة قدم يحبه ويشجعه الملايين على مستوى العالم العربي انه جزء لا يتجزأ من نسيج الشعب المصري عاصر منذ نشاته خلال القرن العشرين بداية ظهور الروح القومية والوطنية فى صفوف المثقفين وابناء الطبقة المتوسطة من المجتمع والتى كانت رد فعل طبيعى لحركة التنوير والتعليم والنهضة الوليدة. لذلك جاء التفكير فى هذا الكتاب الذى يجمع تاريخ الأهلى منذ نشأته وتاسيسه على يد عمر بك لطفى فى ديسمبر عام 1905.
فهذا المرجع التاريخى أعتقد أنه من أهم الكتب التى تناولت تاريخ النادى الاهلى ونجومه ورؤساءه والبطولات التى حصل ليها والانجازات غير المسبوقة والأرقام القياسية التى حقهها النادي وقد حرصنا أيضا على أن يكون هناك جزء عن تاريخ الكرة المصرية حتى يكون الكتاب لكل محبى الكرة المصرية عامة ولعشاق الأهلى خاصة.
