لم يعد لى إلا أن انتظر ما لم يحدث منذ مجيئة إلى هنا مستوسدا الأعناق فى الهزيع الأخير من ليلة أمس، حيث أجفلت مسرعة فى العتمة الشفيفةباقى الظنابيب مستبقة حوافر تثير فى حصاصها موجات من غبار، كلما دنوت أحداها ملساء ناعمة تلاعجها برودة يقشعر لها الزبب، لكنها باصارا تخطو لا يوقفها شئ، حتى كريات الحصى التى كانت منثورةعلى جانبي الممشى اجتازتها دون عناء.
ثم فجأة تمايلت الرؤوس عن يمينى فقالو: إياه فحاذروا وقتها بدا أن كل هذا الضجيج آخذ فى العلو، حتى خلت أنه حتما قاض على كنى الذى لا يمر يوم إلا وأضيف غليه حجرا أزحرزحه من نتوء كانوا ينكاون فيه بمرورهم المستمر.
