هذا هو الكتاب الثاني من الكتب المحققة التي يخرجها خالد أحمد الملا السويدي لقراء العربية، حيث سبقه كتاب "سفط المُلح وزَوح الترح" للإمام العالم أبو الحسن سعد الله بن نصر بن سعيد بن علي الدجاجي عن المخطوط فريد ونادر من مقتنيات مكتبة بطرسبورغ في لينيغراد، وهو مخطوط نادر في موضوعه أيضاً، حيث جمع مؤلفه فيه بين الجد والدعابة، ونثر في أرجائه فلسفته وخبرته، وبدءاً من فهمه للقرآن الكريم، والأحاديث النبوية الشريفة، وأشعار، وأخبار العرب، وحكاياتهم وموروثهم الغني والثري، وكل ذلك في إحكام وسبك نادرين.
حيث كان الكتاب منهجاً فريداً في نوعه في تبسيط أسلوب العالم الشيخ لنثر آرائه للقراء، وإدخال معلوماته بأساليب شيقة ومحببة، وهو حسب ما وصفه أحد الباحثين: الكتاب يوازي في لحمته وسداه وهدفه وغاياته ومراميه كتاب "رياض الصالحين" للإمام النوري رغم إختلاف الأسلوبين والمنهجين، ولكن في النهاية يخدمان غرضاً واحداً إلا وهو خدمة الشريعة المحمدية.
أما هذا الكتاب "عجائب الدنيا لابن وصيف" فقد استوعب مؤلفه كل ما سبقه من علوم السلف، وأساطيرهم سواء من المسلمين العرب، والفرس والروم والقبط والأقوام الأخرى، سبك كل هذه الموروثات في قالب جديد ومحبب؛ فتحدث في الجزء الأول على عجائب البحار، وأسماكها وجزائرها، وأنواعها، والأهرام وعجائبها، وذكر من بناها، والسبب في بنائها وَمَا أودع فيها من النواويس، والمعدن النفيس وغير ذلك؛ وتوقف في الجزء الثاني عند خلق آدم عليه السلام وحواء وذريتهما، ثُمَّ نبي الله تعالى نوح عليه السلام وذريته وقسمة الأراضي وحديث السفينة، والطوفان، والبلبلة، واليمامة وكهنة مصر شق وسطيح وغيرهما، وذكر يأجوج ومأجوج وغير ذلك، فذكر الملوك بعد الطوفان وهم الملوك الجبابرة، والعتاة الأكاسرة الذين أقاموا الأعلام وادخروا الكنوز وصنعوا التماثيل العجيبة الناطقة، وأثاروا المعادن، ووضعوا الطلسمات المانعة وصوروا التصاوير الرادعة، ويغلبوا من ناوأهم من الملوك أي ملكوا الأرض وقهروا واستيسروا.
