إذا فتح المسلم عينه من النوم جاء الدعاء يقول له: اذكر ربك واذكر عبوديتك له واذكر فضله عليك، فهو الذي أحياك بعد موت وإليه النشور، فحاذر أن تقع في عذابه واسأله أن يعينك على ذلك. ويلازمه الدعاء في أموره وحركاته وحاجاته.. وفي خروجه من المنزل ورجوعه إليه، في طريقه، في ركوبه.. في ولوجه المسجد.. في إرادته الوضوء أو الأكل وهكذا، حتى ينهي يومه ويأوي إلى فراشه للنوم. أي أن الدعاء المأثور ليذكر كل مسلم بربه وحقيقة عبوديته له في كل شأن من شؤون الحياة اليومية، وفي كل جزء من أجزاء الليل والنهار، وبذلك يبقى المسلم مرتبطاً بدينه، ذاكراً ربه، حائزاً على الثواب الأوفى ويبقى لسانه رطباً بذكر الله. ولما كان للدعاء هذه الأهمية عنيت "صديقة شرف الدين" بإعداد هذا الكتاب الذي تجمع فيه الأذكار الواردة عن سيد الأبرار محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم التي يسن للمسلم ترديدها، وقصدت بهذا العمل أمرين؛ أولاً: أن يكون بين يدي الناس كتاب مختصر في دعاء اليوم والليلة، يلتزم السنة ويجتنب البدعة ويحل محل كثير من الكتب المملوءة بالخرافات المصطنعة والأدعية الباطلة المخترعة. ثانياً: أن يكون هذا الأثر من العلم الذي ينتفع به على تطاول الأيام.
