تتنوع موضوعات ما بين رومانسي وكوميدي؛ حيث يناقش الديوان عددًا من القضايا المهمة في الحياه المصرية وهي البطالة، وذلك متمثل في القصيدة الزجلية "إعلان شحاتة" التي تتحدث عن مجموعة من الأصدقاء الأطباء والصيادلة من خريجي الجامعات المصرية عاطلين عن العمل ليجدوا أنفسهم شحاتين.. وذلك في إطار كوميدي، فيما تتحدث قصائد الديوان الأخرى عن الحب الأول وتأثيره في حياة الشباب وتحمل القصائد عديدًا من المفاجآت للقارئ.
