أحداث القصة مستوحاة من تجربة حقيقيّة بكلّ مآسيها وأفراحها، وتبدأ مع وعدٍ يقطعه رامي، الشخصية الرئيسية، لأحدهم لا تتضح هويته سوى في الختام، بالقول "لن أعود".
من ثمّ ننتقل بالذاكرة مع الشاب إلى محطات أساسية من ماضيه، طفولته التي شهدت طلاق والديه وانفصاله عن أمه لنلمس مدى معاناته بعيداً عنها رغم كل الدعم والحب اللذين أغدقهما الوالد عليه وعلى شقيقه. ومراهقته التي خسر خلالها والده ما أدخله في حالةٍ من الاكتئاب الشديد ثم انغماسه في مرحلة تالية مع رفاق السوء الذين فتحوا أمامه الباب واسعاً ليدخل إلى عالم الكحول والمخدرات أضف إلى صراعه مع أمه وعائلتها.
المُلفت أنه ورغم إدمانِ رامي على المخدرات، إلا أنه ثابر على الدراسة وتابع تعليمه إلى أن وصل ذلك اليوم الذي افتُضِح فيه أمره واقتيد إلى التحقيق.
