يبدو أن التفسيرات التعسفية والتأويلات الخاطئة لآيات الكتب السماوية المنزلة، هي التي جعلت بعض رجال الدين يقفون على الجانب الآخر من الحقائق العلمية، وبخاصة نظريات التطور العضوي للكائنات الحية.
وعلى الأخص نظرية داروين، التي اعتبرت تحدياً سافراً للأفكار والمعتقدات الدينية، بما أثارته من معارضة لفكرة الخلق التي (فهمها) أتباع الديانات السماوية كلها، ويصدق هذا تماماً عندما يبتعد النص الديني عن أصله، أما إذا انطلقنا مباشرة من النص فإنه لن يكون منافياً لأيّ حقيقة علمية، هذا مع إعتبار أن لا نُحمّل النص أكثر مما يحتمل.
وفي هذا الكتاب بعض ما يقوله العلم في مسألة الخلق، وتتفاوت معطيات العلم من (نظريات) لم تثبت صحتها أو ما زالت قيد التحقيق إلى أن تنتهي بــ (الحقائق العلمية).
