يضم الكتاب أطروحة أكاديمية بأبعادها التاريخية والسياسية بنسختيها العربية والفرنسية، وهي دراسة تتناول التيارات والإتجاهات السياسية في الطائفة المارونية من العام 1916 إلى العام 1936.
كتبت الأطروحة بالفرنسية عام 1985 وبالعربية في العام 1986 ونشرت في العام 2017 دون تعديل في مضمونها وسياقها.
كان اختيار موضوع الأطروحة "التيارات والإتجاهات السياسية في الطائفة المارونية في الحقبة الممتدة من العام 1916 إلى العام 1936" لما لهذه الحقبة من أهمية تاريخية وتكوينية وسياسية في إطار المتغيرات العربية والإقليمية والدولية، فكانت العودة إلى التاريخ ووقائع أحداثه، ومواقف قواه وشخصياته، منذ إنهيار السلطنة العثمانية وإنتهاء الحرب العالمية الأولى وإتفاقية سايكس بيكو في 25 أيار عام 1916 التي قسمت المنطقة حسب مصالح الدول الإستعمارية إلى كيانات سياسية دون الوقوف على رأي شعوبها وفرض الإنتداب الفرنسي والبريطاني على كيانات المنطقة وإعلان وعد بلفور في 2 تشرين الثاني عام 1917 وإعلان الجنرال الفرنسي غورو دولة لبنان الكبير في الأول من أيلول عام 1920.
