إن من المعلوم لدى كل خبير أن أشرف وأفضل العلوم: علم التفسير، وكان من أجلّ ما كتب فيه "حاشية العلامة الصاوي على تفسير الجلالين" للعلامة الفقيه المالكي المصري أحمد بن محمد الخلوتي المعروف بالصاوي (ت 1241هـ)، التي شرح فيها غوامض "تفسير الجلالين" وكشف عن رموزه، ودقائقه وخفيّ معانيه ومراميه.
فكتاب "تفسير الجلالين" هو من أجلّ كتب التفسير بالرأي الذي عُرفَ بالإختصار وشدّة الإيجاز، فهو مختصر العبارة كثيراً، يكاد يكون أعظم التفاسير إنتشاراً ونفعاً في العالم الإسلامي وإن كان أصغرها شرحاً وحجماً.
ونظراً لما تحتلّه هذه الحاشية على هذا التفسير الجليل من أهمية، فقد رأى صاحب مؤسسة دار إحياء التراث عمدنا على نشرها بحلّة جديدة مدقّقة ومصحّحة الألفاظ وبعدها؛ وقد طُبعَ في أعلى الصفحة "تفسير الجلالين" وفي أسفلها حاشية الصاوي، هذا وقد وضعنا وراء هذه الكلمة مقدمة تقع في خمسة أقسام: القسم الأول: "وفيه ترجمة الإمام المَحَلِّي"، القسم الثاني: "وفيه ترجمة الإمام السيوطي"، القسم الثالث: "وفيه ترجمة الإمام الصاوي"، القسم الرابع: "ويشمل دراسة حول تفسير الجلالين"، القسم الخامس: "وفيه صور عن النُّسْخة الخطية لتفسير الجلالين".
