نبيل راغب هو ناقد وكاتب ومفكر وأديب مصري معاصر من مواليد طنطا عام 1940. حصل على ليسانس الآداب من كلية الآداب جامعة القاهرة قسم الأدب الإنجليزى وشهادة الدكتوراه من جامعتى القاهرة ولانكستر بإنجلترا.عمل كأستاذ ورئيس لقسم النقد الفنى بالمعهد العالى للنقد الفنى بأكاديمية الفنون بالهرم ثم عميدا للمعهد لثلاث فترات متتالية.كما عمل كمستشار لوزير الثقافة في مصر من عام 1969 إلى 1973.بعد ذلك عمل كمستشار للرئيس الراحل محمد أنور السادات من 1975 إلى 1981. عمل كأستاذ زائر بجامعة إكسيتر بإنجلترا من عام 1982 إلى 1986. ألف 28 رواية تحول بعضها إلى أفلام سنيمائية مثل جبروت امرأة وخيوط العنكبوت وغرام الأفاعى ومسلسل برج الأكابر للتلفزيون المصري.وله أكثر من مائة مؤلف في الدراسات النقدية والسياسية والفلسفية والثقافية والحضارية.كما شارك في العديد من المؤتمرات والندوات والمهرجانات الفنية والسياسية العربية والدولية.و يعمل الآن كأستاذ للنقد الفنى في المعهد العالى للنقد الفنى وكلية الإعلام بجامعة مصر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا.

هذه أول دراسه علمية دقيقة تتناول فن الرواية عند يوسف السباعى، وقد بذل المؤلف جهدا كبيرا فى قراءة أعمال الاستاذ يوسف السباعى كلها وأستوعبها وحولها الى خانة سهلة صاغ منها البحث العميق الذى يعتبر بحق اضافة أصيلة الى المكتبة العربية.
قد تمكن الأستاذ الباحث -من خلال ثقافته وقراءته- أن يكون لنفسه تصوراً خاصاً فى الرواية عند السباعى وأن يصوغ من هذا التصوير هيكل هذه الدراسة بشكل هندسى دقيق وهذا الهيكل مقسم إلى عشرة فصول هى: البناء الدرامى- التحليل النفسى- الحتمية القدرية- الرومانسية المثالية- الواقعية النقدية- الإلتزام الفكرى- التسجيلالتاريخى- الخلفية الوصفية- العنصر الكوميدى- المنهج العلمى.
ولهذا أعتقد أن هذا البحث سيكون بداية صلبة لأبحاث جديدة عن أعمال يوسف السباعى كلها.
