"إيرون رومل" ولد في 15 نوفمبر 1891م في مدينة "هايدنهايم" الألمانية كان يلقب بثعلب الصحراء كان قائدًا ألمانيا أثناء الحرب العالمية الثانية في العلمين في الصحراء الغربية توفى في 14 أكتوبر عام 1944م. خسر حرب العلمين في مصر على يد الجنرال الانجليزي "مونتجمري" قائد الجيش الثامن البريطاني (فئران الصحراء) في أكتوبر سنة 1942م ليس لعدم كفاءته أو لكفاءة خصمه يتمتع بتفوق جوي لديه وكذلك نقص حاد في الوقود.
فأمر هتلر بإعادته إلى ألمانيا خاصة وقد ترددت أنباء انتقادات رومل لقيادة هتلر. وبعد عودته إلى ألمانيا ألقى القبض عليه بتهمة التأمر على حياة "هتلر" حيث خيره الزعيم النازي بين تناول السم والموت منتحرًا والإعلان عن وفاته متأثرًا بجراحه ليحتفظ بشرفه العسكري أو يقدم إلى محكمة الشعب بتهمة الخيانة فاختار الأولى وانتحر في الرابع عشر من أكتوبر عام 1944م.
