الفرحُ لا يأتي مبكراً ، قد يأتي متأخراً ، وفي الوقت الذي لا ينفع فيه الرجوع إلى الوراء ، هذا ما أراده قوله " ياسر حمدان الخروصي " في روايته هذه ، والتي تقول لنا إن الصدق والأخلاق والتفاني في العمل ، قد تؤدي بصاحبها إلى الشقاء ، ذلك هو حال صالحاً الموظف النزيه في عمله ، قد تؤدي بصاحبها إلى الشقاء ، ذلك هو حال صالحاً الموظف النزيه في عمله ، والذي رفض أن يتقاضى رشاوى من الفاسدين زملاء عمله ، فكانت النتيجة أن سُرح من عمله عقاباً لعدم تجاوبه مع رغبات وأهواء أولئك الذين لم تكن أمانته ونزاهته في عمله على أهوائهم ، بعد أن كان جلّ طموحه أن يظفر بلقب " موظف متقاعد " من عمله بعد سنوات حسب اعتقاده يكون قد أدى فيها واجباته على أكمل وجه ، فظل يحس أنه كان سبباً في حرمان عائلته المكونة من زوجته لطيفة وإبنتين هما شمسة والخريدة من الأمان المادي ، بعد فقدانه للوظيفة وحرمانه من الراتب التقاعدي .
ما يميّز هذه الرواية هو تحررها من قواعد السرد التقليدي ، لما فيها من إطلاق لحرية الشخصيات ، ووعيها الباطني ، من قيوده ، فيتدفق على هيئة تداعيات تمثل الشكل الذي تتسربل فيه أفكار الإنسان لتقول ما تشاء وما لا تشاء ، وما تواريه في لاشعورها من هواجس ، وخاصة أن أضواء الراوي سُلطت على واحد منها ، هو " صالح " ، فهو الذي يحتل موقع البؤرة في النص ، فكان صوته وصوت الراوي صوتاً واحداً ، فكأنه يتحدث بصوته ، كاشفاً عما يدور في عقله ووجدانه من أفكار وخيبات وأحلام مكسورة " ما أقسى أن يعيش الإنسان وقلبه يخامره النقيضان ( الفرح والحزن ) ، فلا يعرف هو أيهما يصطفي أو في أيهما يصارع ، ولا يعرف حتى كيف يزاوج بينهما فلا يطغى هذا على ذاك . وهل للإنسان يدٌ على قلبه وما حَوَي ؟! " .
" الفرح لا يأتي مبكراً " رواية إجتماعية ، تفضح الفساد وتعريه ، وتنتصر للحق والعدل ، تعبر عن بنية مؤسساتية مفككة ، وشرائح إجتماعية مقهورة ... هذه الرواية تجعلنا نقدر حيواتنا بشكل أفضل مهما كانت توجهاتنا .
