إن الذي دفعني، بل قذفني ورماني إلى كتابة هذا الكتاب أمر سبب للعديد الحيرة والدهشة حتى الكتاب والمفكرين؛ إنها الشفرة السرية التي احتار في تفسيرها القدماء والمحدثون، المتفلسفون والمتحزلقون، المؤدبون ومقابلهم- وخلينا محترمين-، الباشا والحرامي، الهانم والبيه، رجال الدين وعلماؤه وعامة الناس وأصحاب المهن، رجال الكرة والفن صغاراً وكباراً رجالاً ونساءً، فكانوا بين مقصر أراد الشمول فعجز وسقط، وبين مطول أراد الإلمام فانفلت منه الزمام فهرع جواده رغماً عنه فسقط هو الأخر.
حتى وإن الأمر قد تطرق إلى المجتمعات المجاورة فنطح كل منهم وخبط، وعبط ولخبط، ففرغ دلوه فكان إما خاوياً أو حاوياً للسوء والجهل فنكص على عقبيه.
كل هؤلاء حاولوا في شرح متن الشخصية المصرية، لكنهم جهلوا قبل الشرح أن متن الشخصية مشفر لم تفك رموزه بعد، فشرحوا مجهولاً، وقاسوا واستدلوا على مفقود هويته، وما علموا أن المصري في أصله الحسن والعلو، لكن به عروقاً تشذ عن القاعدة، هم في تحقيق الشخصية نسبوا إلى مصر وفي الحقيقة هم أعداء مصر.. وهنا وجب التفريق.
في هذه الورقات التالية تجد النوعين- أو بالأخص تجد العرقين- لكن قد أطيل الحديث عن السوء لكشف الستار عن سوئه وفعله الدنئ، وقد يقصر الحديث عن الحسن، صاحب المبدأ والقيم والعرق الأصيل؛ لأنه معلوم لدى الجميع وهو الأصل، ليس شاذاً أو نشازاً.
