المركز المصرى لحقوق الماة هيئة مستقلة غير حكومية وغير حزبية وهو مهتم بالأساس بدعم ومساندة المرأة المصرية فى نضالها من أجل الحصول على حقوقها كاملة وتحقيق المساواة بينها وبين الرجل ويعمل المركز على التصدى لكافة أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة وحفز السلطات التشريعية على إعادة النظر فى كافة التشريعات التى تتعارض مع الدستور المصرى والاتفاقيات الدولية ذات الصلة بحقوق المرأة وفى مقدمتها الاتفاقيات الدولية لإلغاء كافة أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة . وفى هذا الإطار يهتم المركز من خلال برامجه بتنيمة وعى المرأة وتأكيد لاهميتة مشاركتها فى الحياة العامة كناخبة ومرشحة بالإضافة إلى تنمية وعيها القانونى من خلال تبسيط المفاهيم القانونية وتقديم المساعدات القانوينة سواء بتقديم الاستشارات القضائية للدفاع عن المرأة والمطالبة بحقوقها . ويكتسب نشاط المركز أهميته أنه من المراكز القليلة التى تعنى بدعم الحقوق المدنية والسياسية للمرأة بجانب الخدمات القانونية والأساسية التى تقدم للنساء غير القادرات فضلا عن برامج إعداد قيادات نسائية ويمتد إلى كافة أنحاء الجمهورية ( إلا أنه بدء من منطقة دار السلام بالقاهرة ثم أمتد بعد التجربة وتحقيق نتائج إيجابية إلى مناطق أخرى )
