ومن علماء الحديث في الاصطلاح وفي الاستنباط وفي الحكم، من علمائه البارزين مؤلف هذا الكتاب أحمد بن علي بن حجر العسقلاني - رحمه الله - الذي يلقب بقاضي القضاة في مصر، هذا الرجل علمه لا يحتاج إلى استقراء؛ لأنه معروف لدينا، ألف هذا الكتيب الصغير لفظاً، الكبير معنى، يعني وزنه كبير جداً، لانه نخبة في علم المصطلح، لو بحثت في كل كتب علم المصطلح في الكتب الواسعة وجدت أن كل ما فيها موجود في هذه النخبة اليسيرة، ويستطيع الإنسان أن يحفظها في خلال يومين.
