ما إن يولد الطفل حتى ترتسم الدهشة على وجبهه قبل أن ينفجر باكيا. وقد لازمتني الدهشة لما دخلى الجامعة, ودرست الفلسفة, حيث أدهشني أن أسمع من أساتذتى القول بأن العالم الذي أعيش فيه وهم, والحياة حلم, ولا علم يقينى إلا بالوجدان. ويذكرون باحترام أسماء فلاسفة "كأفلاطون" و"ديكارت", و"باركلي",وغير من أصحاب الاتجاهات المثالية, لكن على الرغم مما لهؤلاء جميعا من مكانة فى قلبي, لم أصدق أبدا أن مفكرين تنسب إليهم الحكمة والعبقرية, ينكرون أوضح الأمور.
وبدأ الشك يحثنى على إعادة النظر فيما كتبه هؤلاء, حتى تصادف أن قرأت نصا "لديكارت" (1596/1650) يتساءل فيه دهشا: "كيف أنكر أن هاتين اليدين يدي, وأنى أقبضهما الآن وأبسطهما عن وعي لا عن وهم, إلا إذا كنت مخبولا" عندئذ افترضت أن ثمة خطأ ما فى قراءة النصوص الديكارتية, فعقدت العزم على أن أتحرى الحقيقة من أجل الحقيقة.
وقد أثمرت تحرياتى عن انبثاق كتابى هذا, تبدو فيه فلسفة "ديكارت" كما يراها إنسان عادى طبيعى بذهن لم تعكر صفوه الترهات.. وقد أسميته "تصحيحات" لأن كل تصحيح فيه يحل مشكلة ما,. ظن النقاد أن "ديكارت" قد وقع فيها, ولا أزعم أنى واجهت كل الصعوبات, لكن أزعم أن ما قدمته من آراء كاف كمفتاح للقضاء على كثير منها, وكان أول ما بدأت النظر فيه: العوامل التى أدت إلى ذيوع الشك فى عصر "ديكارت" وموقفه الخاص منها من واقع نصوصه, وقد اخترت أكثر العوامل تأثيرا فى أذهان الناس, وأشدها زعزعة لما استقر عليه المجتمع من ثوابت.
