كتاب صورة الأرض لأبي القاسم ابن حوقل النّصيبي يتضمن وصفه لأشكال الأرض ومقدارها في الطول والعرض وأقاليم البلدان ومحل الغامر منها والعمران من جميع بلاد الإسلام. وقد جعل المؤلف لكل قطعة أفردها تصويراً وشكلاً يحكي موضع ذلك الإقليم، وذكر ما يحيط به من الأماكن والبقاع وما في أضعافها من المدن والأصقاع. كما أنه يذكر طبائع أهل كل إقليم، وخواص البلاد في نفسها كما يذكر جباياتها وخراجاتها ومستغلاتها. إضافة إلى الكثير من النوادر والحكايات والأخبار والآثار. كما وصف في آخر الكتاب ما صادفه من متاعب ومشقات حتى أتم مهمته.
وأصل هذا الكتاب نسخة محفوظة في خزانة السراي العتيق في إستنبول، وقد قورنت بالنص الأصلي، وتم تدارك النواقص والأخطاء فيها كما قام المشرفون على إخراج الكتاب بشكله النهائي بضبط الأسماء الموجودة في الصور وكذلك الأسماء الواردة في المتن، كما اعتنوا بضبط الهجاء وتصحيح الأخطاء الظاهرة.
