يتناول الكتاب أحد الموضوعات المهمة في البلاغة العربية وهو الأسلوب وعلاقته بعلم البيان ، وهو من الكتب القليلة التي تناولت هذا الموضوع ، لذا جاء شاملا ويكاد يكون موسوعيا في تغطيته لجوانب الموضوع ، حيث يبدأ بالأسلوبية من وجهة نظر النقد الحديث ، ثم يستعرض تاريخ الأسلوبية ونشأتها في البيان العربي ، كما يناقش قضية الأسلوبية وعلاقتها بالصياغة ، ثم يعرض لأنماط الأسلوبية ، كما يتناول الأسلوبية عند بعض علماء اللغة العربية مثل عبد القاهرة والجرجاني وابن سنان.
