مشكلة تعاطي المخدارات من أهم المشكلات التي تعوق عمليات التنمية وقد أصبحت من أخطر القضايا التي تواجه أي مجتمع عندما تخترقه بأنواعها وقد ازدادت هذه المشكلة بصورة كبيرة تحتل مكاناً كبيراً من الرأي العام ولقد اهتمت هذه الدراسة بظاهرة تعاطي الأطفال للمخدرات كاستجابة للتطورات التي طرأت على فئات المتعاطين والذين برز من بينهم بدء انتشار التعاطي بين صغار السن وهم يمثلون فئة نمرية ذات تأثير في مستقبل التنمية البشرية وقد هدفت الدراسة في هذا الكتاب إلى التعرف على الظروف الاجتماعية والبيئية والأسباب والدوافع لإتجاه الأطفال إلى تعاطي المخدرات والتعرف على المستوى الاجتماعي والاقتصادي لأسرة الطفل المتعاطي للمخدارت والتعرف على الأساليب المختلفة لتناول المواد المخدرة لدى الأطفال ومدى اختلافها لنوع المادة المخدرة والتعرف على الأماكن والأشخاص الذي يتردد عليهم الطفل المتعاطي لأخذ احتياجاته والتعرف على الآثار النفسية والعضوية والاجتماعية والسلوكيات المنحرفة المرتبطة بتعاطي الأحداث للمخدرات والتعرف على الظروف الاجتماعية التي يمكن الاستعانة بها في وقاية الأطفال من تعاطي المخدرات.
