قدمت الطبعة الأولى من "رسالة الغفران" وأنا أدرك تمام الإدراك أن عملى فى خدمة الغفران ودرسها لن يكمل إذا لم أرفقها بنص محقق "لرسالة ابن القارح", لا لكونها السبب القريب المباشر الذى دعا أبا العلاء إلى إملاء رسالة الغفران فحسب, بل لأن رسالة أبى العلاء, كذلك, لايمكن أن تفهم ما لم تقرأ قبلها ومعها "رسالة ابن القارح" التى تعد بحق مفتاح "الغفران".
والذين قرءوا رسالة "أبى العلاء" أو درسوها دون أن تكون "رسالة ابن القارح" بين أيديهم, تعذر عليهم فهمها على وجهها الصحيح, وأصدر بعضه عليها وعلى صاحبها أحكاما نقدية بالغة الخطر: من تشتت الفكر, واضطراب السياق, والتلذذ بذكر أخبار الزنادقة دون داع.
وكم وددت لو أتيح لى من قبل, أن أكمل عملى فى رسالة الغفران بتقديم نص رسالة ابن القارح معها, غير أنى-فى الحق- استنفدت جهدى مدى سبع سنين فى توثيق نص الغفران وتحقيقه ودرسه, فما فرغت منه إلا وأنا مجهدة متعبة, ومن ثم اكتفيت على الرغم منى بأن أشر على هامش نص الغفران -فى طبعته الأولى- إلى الفقرات التى يرد عليها أبو العلاء من رسالة ابن القارح, وهذا جهد المقل, وحين نفدت نسخ الطبعة الأولى لرسالة الغفران, لاحت لى الفرصة لاستكمال النقص فى عملى الأول, فأقبلت أبحث عن مخطوطات رسالة ابن القارح.
وسيرى القارئ أنى لم أضن على "رسالة ابن القارح" بمثل ما بذلت للغفران من جهد فى الخدة والتحقيق, ومنهجنا فيها هو المنهج الذى اتبعناه هناك.
