هذا المعجم معد للطلاب العرب الذين يدرسون الإنكليزية في المرحلة الأولى والمتوسطة، لقد تخيرنا مداخله بمعاونة الأساتذة وأهل الخبرة في تدريس الناشئين. وقد أدخلنا كثيراً من الألفاظ التي يواجهها الطلاب في قراءاتهم ومطالعاتهم ومسموعاتهم في اللغة الإنكليزية.
والتعارف الإنكليزية والعربية للمداخل تتميز بالوضوح والدقة. وحيث يراد أكثر من تعريف واحد للمداخل فقد رقمنا تلك التعاريف بوضوح. وأتبعنا الكثير من التعارف بجمل في الإنكليزية مبسطة ليفيد منها الطالب في فهم المعنى وطريقة استخدام الكلمة فقط بل مرشداً في تعلم اللغة والتمرس بها أيضاً.
