الكتاب هو واحد من المجموعة الفلسفية القيمة التي أنتجها علي بن الوليد في حياته والتي يتجاوز عددها العشرات. ضَمَّن ابن الوليد كتابه هذا مئة مسألة فلسفية، وجعلها ممثولة لأسماء الله الحسنى التسعة والتسعين، فأثبت تضلعه في التعبير عن النظام الفكري الإسماعيلي المتميز بالسهولة والوضوح والبيان المعبر والإيجاز. وليس هذا بالغريب لأن المؤلف كان شاعراً كبيراً يعبّر بقصائده عن المواضيع الفلسفية مما جعله يصل إلى صفوف الشعراء الفلاسفة، ويمكن القول بأن هذا الكتاب يعبّر عن نفسه ويمثل أصدق تمثيل الاعتدال في العقائد الإسماعيلية، فكان تحفة أدبية في التراث العربي الخالد.
